Historical Hurricane Digital Story

Comic Life

For your next assignment you will be using the program Comic Life to retell the story of your hurricane. You must use the same hurricane that you used for your Six Picture Photo Story and the same six pictures.

You will use Comic Life to import and arrange the pictures using one of the provided templates. Your story must have a title, which you will create using the Lettering option, six pictures, and six captions. Each caption must include at least three complete sentences and advance the storyline. You may use speech and thought bubbles where appropriate, but they are not required. Keep in mind that you will not be able to tell as much of the story using the static media of a comic that you were able to tell using the movie format of Photo Story, so you will need to choose the information that you are conveying carefully.

After you finish your digital comic, you will be analyzing the differences between using the Comic Life and Photo Story to tell a story. Had you been assigned to use Comic Life from the beginning would you have chosen different photos? Why or why not? Was it easier to tell the story using Photo Story or Comic Life? Explain your answer – be specific. Which medium do you feel allowed you to more fully tell your story? Why? Thinking about other digital story projects that you could complete, which types of stories are better suited for Photo Story? Which stories are better suited for Comic Life? Explain your answer and be specific. 

Upon completion of your digital comic and analysis, you will need to make sure that your name is on it, print out both the comic and the analysis, and turn them in. Make sure to print the comic to the color printer and the analysis to the black and white printer.
