Internet Safety Public Service Announcement

You and a partner will write a script for a 60 second "radio spot" public service announcement about the potential dangers of the Internet and how kids should protect themselves. You can vary the tone of the message to be serious, ominous, funny, or entertaining. Be creative, concise, and most importantly, make sure your PSA conveys a clear message.

We will be using Audacity to record your PSA. You can also use background sounds and music to accent your recording. A great place to get music clips is Freeplay Music (although licensing only allows you to use it within the classroom, NOT for posting to the web). For music you CAN use freely to post on the web, try GarageBand. You can also insert sound effects into your PSA. A good place to find sound effect is Find Sounds. Another good place is Soundzabound. The Internet Archive has a huge collection of music and sounds too. Once you record and save your audio file, you will upload to your teacher's project drive (R Drive). Once EVERYONE has posted, you will listen to each other's recording and provide comments and feedback.

You will be graded with the following criteria:

  1. Concise (not significantly more than 60 seconds)

  2. Informative (does it relay THE message?)

  3. Creative (interesting, witty, appropriate music, sounds)

OR, you may be graded using this rubric
